MHT-CET Target Score Guide — Marks You Need for Every College Tier
Data-backed MHT-CET target scores for PCM and PCB aspirants, mapped to college tiers, cutoff trends, and how to reverse-engineer your daily practice plan from the score you need.
Setting an MHT-CET target score is not motivational — it is the single decision that drives your daily practice volume, mock-test difficulty, and revision priorities. Here is how to pick the number that maps to the seat you actually want.
Step 1: Pick the seat, not the score
Start with a specific college and branch — say, "COEP Computer Engineering" or "GMC Mumbai MBBS". The cutoff percentile for last year (published on the State CET Cell site) is your first anchor.
Step 2: Convert percentile to a mock-test score
Every RankNiti MHT-CET mock returns a projected percentile based on how the current cohort is scoring on the same paper. When you consistently hit that percentile on three separate mocks — never on one — you have a defensible target.
Step 3: Reverse-engineer daily practice volume
Working backwards from the target, the daily practice volume is a function of two things:
- Gap: current mock score − target mock score, in marks.
- Runway: days remaining till your final mock (never till the actual exam — the last week is taper).
A 25-mark gap over 60 days is one weak chapter drill + one subject-level mixed drill per day. A 60-mark gap over 60 days is double that, plus two full mocks per week instead of one.
College tiers and their MHT-CET score bands (2025 cycle)
Directional only — every year drifts a few marks. Verify against the current cycle on the previous year archive.
- Tier 1 (COEP, VJTI, ICT): 190+ / 200 for Computer/AI branches in Maharashtra general merit.
- Tier 2 (top city colleges): 170–189 for CS/IT and allied branches.
- Tier 3 (regional): 140–169 depending on branch and district quota.
The trap: aiming for “as high as possible”
Ambiguous targets produce ambiguous practice. Pick the seat, pick the score, work backwards to what today looks like. That single change — an anchored target — is what our top MHT-CET students say made the difference between two attempts.
How to use RankNiti this month
Pin your dashboard to MHT-CET, take one full mock this Sunday, and note the projected percentile. Then walk backwards to today using the daily-volume math above.
